The Heart of Texas Writing Project is devoted to improving the teaching and learning of reading, writing, and 21st Century literacies. We also strive to make a difference in the quality of students' school experience by educating the public about what quality reading and writing instruction is and the possibilities it holds to students and teachers.

We provide inservice professional development to schools and districts; host day-long workshops for teachers throughout the school year; hold an intensive, invitational summer institute in the teaching of writing; sponsor summer writing camp experiences for children and teens; and support a community of dedicated and knowledgeable professionals in literacy education.
HTWP is affiliated with the National Writing Project.
