Emergency Hand Signal
Each classroom should have its own bathroom procedures. In my CT’s classroom, students can get the bathroom pass only during individual work time if they need to use the restroom. Sometimes students have emergencies though, and those emergencies can arise during instruction time. Therefore, my teacher told students to raise their hands and cross their fingers if they have an absolute bathroom emergency, and then she will know to let them excuse themselves to tend to their emergency.
I got this idea from Ms. Hansen's class at Spicewood Elementary in Round Rock ISD.
